To
sustain, identify and develop agriculture, agribusiness and
renewable energy opportunities.

GOALS
- Continuation of “Renewable Resources
Promotion and Commercialization Program” including
solicitation of renewable energy businesses to Kandiyohi
County
- Attract value-added ag processing and manufacturing
a. Research possible soybean crushing
plant
b. Bio-gasification
- Continue implementation of Ag BRE/R program
- Continue promotion of new animal ag opportunities
and preservation of existing opportunities
a. Solicitation of new and/or possible
expansions of dairy and/or beef operations
- Organize educational agriculture opportunities,
i.e., Strategic Animal Ag Conference
- Procurement of funding—grants, public
and private
- Maintain and enhance presence with elected
officials and public policy recommendations
a. Bio-Security public policy
b. Facilitate visit by City of
Willmar officials to the methane digester plant in DuPage
County, IL as well as invite City of Willmar officials to
a presentation by Dr. Phil Gordon of the University of Minnesota
relating to his methane digester findings

a . Prepare a summary of state and federal mandates
b. Identify research forms of research education centers
(opportunities)
c . Summarize findings in a written report
d . Identify growers to introduce (matchmakers) and
coordinate candidates with the research center
- Position Kandiyohi County to turn wind energy
into anhydrous
ammonia as a way to store energy
a . Determine the economic viability working with a key
research partner(s) and if viable, move on project
development
b . Identify/attract entrepreneurs to move ahead with a
project
c . Identify and eliminate roadblocks and provide technical
and other support
- Explore development of a soybean collection
or processing
facility
a . Research both acres available and needed to support
an operation
b . Research bi-products output and users
c . Prepare feasibility assessment and share with targeted
businesses that could have an interest in a project
d . Support business development needs related to sites,
financing development, market introduction and development,
workforce and skill needs, etc.
- Establish a renewable energy commercialization
center
a . Determine the purpose, scope, management needs and
organizational framework to support a resource business
incubator and information clearinghouse in Kandiyohi County
b . Assess the feasibility, generate partner interest and
initiate
funding development in 2008
c . Finalize the business model and partnership and complete
funding development
