Kandiyohi County is home to several major state-of-the-art medical facilities that provide a full range of healthcare and social services. These facilities and their reputations for outstanding medical care have made this area the regional medical center for west central and southwest Minnesota.
A variety of organizations offer programs designed to improve our residents’ health and quality of living. The area is also a recreational and tourist area offering a wide variety of physical activities for our residents and visitors.
United Way of West Central Minnesota works to improve people’s lives by mobilizing the caring power of west central Minnesota. Its goal is to change lives by addressing the underlying causes of community issues. Programs include:

Kandiyohi County Public Health offers a variety of classes and programs, including:
- expectant parent classes
- teen parenting program for expectant teens
- family home visiting program
- early childhood intervention programs
- immunization and flu vaccination clinics
- WIC nutrition education program
- STEPS program that includes a community partnership that created the Willmar Walks program (walking path map)
