Sibley State Park's Naturalist Activities...Fun
Learning for the Whole Family
Are you the type of person who would like to
know more about Sibley State Park's and Kandiyohi County's
rich, natural diversity of plants, animals and geology? Sibley
State Park naturalists provide year-round fun, learning experiences
for the whole family.
Birding
Sibley State Park is probably the best place
in the county to look for Passerines, especially Warblers.
Sibley was formerly a prairie ecosystem and several prairie
remnants are kept intact by the park staff. Birding is as varied
here as the habitat; you can find everything from Eastern Bluebirds
and Field Sparrows to all the expected Woodpeckers. This is
also a good location for BRd.-winged Hawks, Cuckoos, Thrushes,
Tanagers and Barred Owls.
Nature Programs
Park naturalists provide over 300 nature programs,
including walks, slide presentations, talks and demonstrations
that will help you and your family explore and experience the
beauty of nature as it changes through the seasons.
Special Exhibits
Most nature activities originate from the modern
interpretive/trail center that provides three exhibit rooms
filled with attractive and interactive displays.
